Forsaking All Others

I don't have any idea how to post a video clip, so I'm just gonna put up another link! This is the testimony of Ergun Caner, a former Muslim who is now the President of a Christian Univeristy. I've mentioned him here before because our Sunday School class viewed his dvd Love, Lies, and Landmines.

Now, why did I post all these stories? There is a common thread. They all found truth through the Word of God. They were all part of religions in which the rule of thumb was the traditions of men. But the Lord promised us our salvation was not dependant on others and our access to their version of truth. He gave us His Word, which is sound and unchanging. It makes no sense to void the Word of God, the Creator, the Redeemer, the Beginning and the End, for the word of man, sinful, blind, and prone to wickedness.

We see commercials or hear people in courts say they give their word on it, meaning they are standing behind the promise they make. But what power hath the word of man? We have God's Word on all that we need- how we came here, why we are here, and where we are going. He loved us enough to send his Son as our propitiation, and the promise he gives us is that his yoke is easy and his burden is light. It is not complicated, it does not require the interpretation of men, it is not a mystery anymore. God revealed all truth through His Son, who was the Word made flesh. And He points us to His scriptures as our only reliable guide. WHAT COULD WE WANT BEYOND THE WORD OF GOD?!?!

For the Jews, the truth of the Messiah is fortold and fulfilled in the Word of God. For the Muslim, the proof of a more acurate and powerful Prophet is found in the Bible. For the Catholic, the freedom from the shackles and burden of ritual and confusion and inability to access God directly are destroyed by the Word of God. The power of salvation is found in the true, trustable, tested, and everlasting words from the lips of our Heavenly Father. Praise God for such an undeserved gift and the manifestation of love beyond understanding!

Except for those Catholic who became Catholic through reading the Word of God.

In what way do non-Catholics have to access God directly that Catholics lack? We are not only NOT prohibited from reading the Bible and praying to God directly, but are encouraged to do so. Non-Catholics lack direct access to God through the sacraments.

Amy --

Do you know what sets you and Candy apart from the "rest"? You tell it like it is without trying to force it down someone's throat and without bad, hateful actions in return.

I have had the "pleasure" of experiencing some "anonymous" posts again this week but I can read stat reports and I'm not stupid.

Thanks for all the sharing you do!!
God bless,
Sallie

What would you consider trying to force it down someone's throat? If she posted DAILY that Catholics are going to hell, instead of just weekly?

The sacraments are something we choose to do because of our love for God... not something we must do in order to love God...
