Huh?
OK, maybe it's because we are a homeschooling, home employment, home-most-of-the-time family and we aren't socialized enough to understand the world better...
...but do people who run a daycare really take all their little charges shopping with them....at Wal-Mart....at 9:00PM.....to try on shoes?
I understand (though despise) the question "Are they all yours?". I understand the sentiment that we have our hands full (and that the people who say that most often think full hands are a bad thing). But really, do daycare providors take all the kids to Wal-Mart with them late at night?
The good news is the majority of the nation is able to count out loud to 7.

LOL...at least you have a sense of humor about it.
AND at least you don't have to point out which one is the grandkid and which ones are your own, and then explain the second time family thing, and that NO you are not divorced and remarried and doing it again...it can go on and on...
This happens alot to me and I have only five. Today at the thrift store a lady with one five year old, said she couldn't possibly have any more. Her one took all her time! I agree because she was horrible in the short time I saw her.
My response is normally that one child takes all your time - five takes all your time. Nothing different, just you learn to expect more and give in less. It is much harder to raise one or two than a houseful. It takes work to not give in to a single child and by the time you have a few you learn giving in doesn't work. Obedience is expected and required.
I am laughing out loud cause we had a similiar experience at Wal mart today! Everyone we ran into could tell their sex ("they're all boys!) as well as all out stupidity ( "didn't get your girl, huh?").
did that sitter have permission to drive those kids around? I flipped out when DS was 1 and was at a sitter's and when I called her 16 year old daughter said her mom was showering and I asked about the kids and she said they were all napping. I didn't buy that, all different ages, all napping at 9am ... give me a break!
Someone actually asked you that??? hmmm......wow!
It is nice to know we aren't the only ones who hear carzy questions!
I never thought of a private daycare arrangement- in that instance maybe people do take the kids shopping. But late at night to buy shoes?
Thw worst is the woman once who swore at me and asked if I didn't know how to keep my legs closed. She's what happens when those wild 5 year olds are never trained properly, except the feminist/humanist indoctrination, which they seem to be experts at.
When people comment to me that I have my hands full, I always say "Just one!". It usually takes them a few minutes to realize that one hand has five fingers, and I have five kids. They don't say much after that.
I always get those people counting behind my back, like I don't have ears or can't hear them...LOL!!! I just smile and act like I'm deaf, yeah right!
Yeah, they can count to 7 all right...so can their children!
Oh well, you always get those that can't believe you have so many...but a daycare group at Walmart at 9 p.m....that is off the wall! ;OD
My dad used to embarrass us by counting us before we left places and there were only four of us. I have a friend who's mum was 42 when she was born and she said that she used to always call her mum "Mum" really loudly when they went into shops because otherwise people would assume she was her Grandma.
Ya, that's annoying. heartily agree
LOL We used to get this when our kids were younger, now they're almost grown. We have 5 and we've often had "extras" too. Some people have the silliest things to say. I wonder if they realize how unintelligent they sound? Probably not. I guess they are thinking that we're the unintelligent ones when they ask, "Don't you know what causes that?" sheesh!
