Certainly a lot of the public backlash seems to be very hypocritical. I didn't know that she had been implanted with six babies in her previous IVF treatments too - that gives it a whole different slant as it shows that she was not deliberately trying to have so many children in one go. It is so important that even if we do not agree with the choices of how a person became pregnant in the first place that we do suport them in their decision not to abort. I don't know about the US but I know that here in the UK one of the motivations behind the support for abortion was that there was such a stigma attached to being a single mother that women would choose to kill themselves to avoid bringing shame on their family.

I agree with you - excellent post.I'm just sad for...

I agree with you - excellent post.

I'm just sad for those children. This is the topic we had for current events, adding the Chinese rule of one baby per family, as this is a path we may be on.

By the way we applaud single motherhood and give beyond the pale welfare benefits, educational benefits, and housing. I don't agree with much of the media that is out to get this woman and is trying to get her children taken away from her...but I don't think what she did was good.

She is a single, divorced Mother who has been on welfare for years. She has three disabled children, and three who are not...totaling SIX that she got through IVF....before she had the last EIGHT.

Her parents are supporting them all and are now official bankrupt because of it.

She had six babies implanted. She could have chosen to do several less than that and it would not have killed the children. They would have been frozen. Not that I like that situation either. However it would have been much safer and the babies would not be in such danger.

On top of that, since she immediatly began having the media bidding up her speaking fee it would seem this was purposeful and almost seen as a form of employment. I think that is why people STARTED out having a problem with it. Now they think the house is too small, the babies are suffering needlessly...etc.

The whole thing is sad and will put a bad taste in the mouth of many who already don't agree with large families.

It is sad when something like this happens, it makes a mockery of what a Mother is. You don't "get" a lot of children like you get a lot of purses to make you feel better. Did you see her interview? She seems to be a bit off...

Many Blessings :)
Ace
